Commander of First Naval Zone Rear Admiral Hossein Azad told reporters Saturday that the Fleet's major mission had been to provide security to a vast extension of free waters as Indian Ocean, where it had been the major route for many internationally flagged trade ships and oil tankers; "to address this important necessity, Army's Navy fleet will participate in a joint rescue operation replica with Omani fleet in the country's waters in Sea of Oman and the Indian Ocean," he added.
"Participating in the rescue drill will be Iran's Sabalan destroyer, logistics and helicopter-career ship Lavan, D3SH type helicopter, and missile-launcher Falakhan destroyer with a personnel of 1000 people along with destroyers and army units from hosting Oman," said the commander.
